On the evening of June 27th five great bladesmiths will be joined by 20 special knife collectors to enjoy an evening of great discussion, fine food, and special knives. Collectors will have a chance to purchase special knives and also form more personal relationships with the makers.

Each bladesmith has been asked to create three to seven special knives for this show. These knives will be made available during the evening in a special drawing process. Each collector will have an opportunity to view the knives and ask any questions they may have. This is a special opportunity since all of the makers involved have long wait lists for their knives.

The evening will take place in the brand new Terrace Suite at the L.A. Design Art Gallery in Missoula, Montana. To view the Art Gallery and the Terrace Suite visit http://www.ladesignframing.com/.

The collectors will be asked for their input into which makers they would like to see attend next year and I will do my best to get them for the 2009 showing. At the request of collectors I have already invited knife maker Owen Wood to attend in 2009 and he has accepted.

Collectors will also receive a VIP invitation to my shop for the entire day Friday. During this time the collectors will interact with a number of other collectors and bladesmiths. At last years hammer in there were numerous Master Smith’s and Journeyman Smiths in attendance. We will shoot some neat guns, talk knives, and just relax. This year we have some “special” things planned.

On June 28th and 29th, my wife Jodi and I are hosting the 3rd Annual Big Sky Country Hammer-In where the public is welcome to attend. Tim Hancock, Larry Fuegen, and Harvey Dean will share some of the techniques they apply daily. At the hammer in you will see forging, handle construction, carving, leather work, and numerous other aspects of the knife making process. If you are a collector and would like to attend the show and skip the hammer in there are numerous activities to enjoy nearby. We have great golf courses, fishing, and hiking as well as Glacier National Park and Yellowstone National Park not far away.

If you are a collector and would like more information about these events please contact me.

Thank you.
